SITA Unveils Revolutionary Cloud-Based Air Traffic Communication Platform

SITA introduces the ATC Bridge, enhancing air traffic management with superior speed, security, and efficiency.

Aviation industry tech provider SITA has launched SITA ATC Bridge, a user-friendly, cloud-based platform designed to enhance air traffic communication.

Through this innovative solution, aviation stakeholders can transition from outdated systems to a secure, seamless, and simplified communication method, ensuring operational efficiency.

The platform is geared towards supporting Civil Aviation Authorities, Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs), and regulators in need of reliable communication within the ICAO ATS Messaging Handling System (AMHS). By minimizing operational costs associated with traditional systems, ATC Bridge makes connectivity easier even for emerging markets.

SITA’s Senior Vice-President of Communications and Data Exchange, Martin Smillie, addressed the critical need for this solution:

“Across the industry, air navigation service providers are being asked to do more with less: handle growing traffic volumes and modernize systems, often with tight budgets. Legacy communication systems make that harder by being expensive, rigid, and complex to maintain. SITA ATC Bridge changes that…”

What is SITA ATC Bridge?
A cost-effective, secure, fully managed SaaS cloud communication platform, ATC Bridge supports global air traffic communication in a modern and agile manner. Tailored for rapid deployment and budget-friendly procurement, this system is crucial in scenarios where the transfer of large and frequent messages is increasingly important.

The ATC Bridge system provides extensive scalability, security, and reliability, benefiting both mature and developing ANSPs. It also features a new ATC Message Handling System (AMHS) Gateway, enabling the exchange of large messages securely and reliably. Because it is cloud-based, no physical installations are required, allowing users to access the system remotely.

Enhanced Security and Reduced Ownership Costs
Security is integral to the design of SITA ATC Bridge, featuring encryption, strict access controls, antivirus protection, and regular audits. Automatic updates ensure compliance with international aviation standards.
This solution decreases overall ownership costs by eliminating expensive hardware and ongoing IT maintenance, offering a flexible subscription-based pricing model that aligns with fluctuating needs.

With the ATC Bridge, stakeholders benefit from a scalable, cost-effective resilience-oriented communication solution that bolsters stability in air traffic operations.
