Hong Kong Airlines Restarts Its Nonstop Service to Vancouver

Hong Kong Airlines has recommenced its direct flights to Vancouver, marking a significant milestone in its expansion strategy.

Hong Kong Airlines has restarted its direct flights to Vancouver, Canada, on January 18. Celebrations occurred at both Hong Kong International Airport and Vancouver International Airport to commemorate this relaunch.

Before the flight’s departure, senior management from Hong Kong Airlines, as well as prominent representatives from the Airport Authority Hong Kong, participated in the ceremony, engaging with passengers and offering commemorative gifts.

Yan Bo, chair of Hong Kong Airlines, expressed: “We are delighted to reinstate the Vancouver service, offering passengers more flight options. Vancouver was our first North American destination when launched in June 2017, and it has consistently been favored by passengers. The resumption of this route not only signifies our official return to North America but also highlights our strategic transformation this year from a regional to an international airline, enhancing our global route network coverage.”

To enhance the passenger journey, a selection of Hong Kong-inspired in-flight meal options is available, including various Chinese, Western, and vegetarian choices tailored for both business and economy class passengers.

Jeff Sun, president of Hong Kong Airlines, stated, “Our Hong Kong-Vancouver route will be serviced by Airbus A330-300 aircraft, delivering a high-quality long-haul flight experience. Passengers from both territories will experience our attentive service and scrumptious meals, embodying our customer-centric approach, while affirming our ambition to be a leading full-service airline globally.”

As a complete service airline, Hong Kong Airlines has proactively improved its offerings and expanded its footprint in recent years. Following strategic route optimization and fleet adjustments, it currently services over 30 locations, illustrating a robust recovery in operations.

Last year, flight operations approached pre-pandemic levels, maintaining an average passenger load factor of around 85% and transporting over 5 million travelers. To sustain growth, the company plans to augment its fleet size as necessary to boost capacity further and will develop a diverse fleet configuration for improved operational flexibility, enabling easier access to destinations in mainland China, Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, as well as popular global locations such as Australia, the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
