Taiwan's MICE Sector Gains Traction with Tainan's Heritage and Kaohsiung's Innovation

The southern port cities of Tainan and Kaohsiung are emerging as top spots for MICE events in the Asia Pacific.

Following the conclusion of the Asian MICE Forum in Taiwan, major MICE venues in the southern cities of Tainan and Kaohsiung have gained prominence on the international stage.

Tainan: A venue steeped in history

Tainan, known as one of Taiwan’s oldest cities, offers a unique cultural backdrop for events. The International Convention and Exhibition Centre (ICC) Tainan, opened in 2022, showcases a blend of Dutch and Japanese influences along with Taiwanese heritage. The center has hosted over 576 meetings and 46 exhibitions, attracting millions.

The ICC Tainan aims to be a leader in sustainability, employing carbon monitoring and solar power solutions, positioning itself as a model for future venues.

Kaohsiung: A dual approach to MICE venues

Kaohsiung provides two distinctive venues:

  • Ciao Tou Sugar Industry Culture Park: This historical site offers a glimpse of local heritage with event spaces that double as markets and workshops.
  • Kaohsiung Exhibition Centre: The region’s first 5G-enabled venue features over 25,000 square meters of space for diverse events, including the Asian Games.

These cities illustrate the potential of marrying cultural heritage with modern innovation in the MICE sector.
