StarFlight Orders Three Airbus H145 Helicopters

Australian aviation provider StarFlight announced today, September 24, that it has placed an order for three Airbus H145 helicopters to provide emergency helicopter services for Ambulance Tasmania and Tasmania Police.

The H145 fleet is expected to enter into service in late 2027, operating across Tasmania. This decision follows StarFlight’s selection to deliver emergency air services in the state, aligning with the Tasmanian Government’s commitment to enhancing its emergency response capabilities.

A Timely Order
Ambulance Tasmania’s Acting CEO Michelle Baxter noted: > “This investment in the H145 helicopters represents a significant upgrade to our emergency air capabilities. The multirole functionality of these aircraft will allow us to respond swiftly to a wide range of emergencies. We look forward to the enhanced service it will bring to our communities.”
StarFlight chair Dennis Richardson commented: > “The investment in the H145 demonstrates our commitment to strengthening aeromedical and emergency service capability in Tasmania for the long term. By partnering with Airbus, we aim to offer sustained reliability, innovation, and value to the government and communities we serve.”
Airbus Helicopters’ managing director Christian Venzal added: > “We’re proud to welcome StarFlight to the Airbus family. The H145 is built for versatility, making it ideal for Tasmania’s emergency response needs.”

The H145 fleet will be stationed in Hobart, providing a versatile platform for aeromedical, search and rescue, and law enforcement missions. The new aircraft is projected to fly about 1,500 hours annually over the next decade, offering critical lifesaving services to the region thus enhancing its emergency response efforts.
