Michael Parker Assumes Leadership as General Manager of Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort

Michael Parker is set to direct the Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort into a new era focused on luxury and wellness.

Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort has announced the appointment of Michael Parker as its general manager as of September 2nd.

In this role, Parker will oversee the next chapter for the resort, emphasizing its position as an exquisite destination for immersive luxury and holistic wellness.

Nicholas Smith, Minor Hotels’ Vice President of Operations in Asia, praised Parker, stating: “Michael has proven himself to be a dynamic and inspiring leader, with an exceptional ability to bring out the best in his teams and deliver meaningful results. His success in the Maldives and deep international experience make him the ideal candidate to lead one of our flagship properties in Bangkok. We are confident that under his leadership, Anantara Riverside will continue to set new benchmarks for excellence in urban resort hospitality.”

Parker will spearhead a comprehensive renovation of its dining outlets, including Sala Lakorn, Spice Market, and Brio, aiming to revitalize the culinary experience unique to Bangkok’s urban resorts. Simultaneously, he intends to enhance the resort’s wellness offerings, building on the Anantara Wellness programme.

Visitors will find tailored wellness journeys that merge traditional rituals with advanced medical therapies to achieve balance and vitality. Be it through detox plans, customized fitness regimens, or rejuvenating medical spa therapies, Anantara Wellness aims to support guests in embracing optimal health and departure feeling renewed and inspired.

Meet Michael Parker

Michael Parker brings over 20 years of high-level experience in luxury hospitality to his new position, having held significant roles across the UK, China, Cambodia, and the Maldives. He joined Minor Hotels in 2023 as complex general manager, managing three resorts in the Maldives: Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort, Anantara Veli Maldives Resort, and Naladhu Private Island Maldives.

During his tenure, Parker directed the $50 million transformation of these resorts, improving operation quality, guest satisfaction, and service standards. His leadership in the Maldives earned him the title of General Manager of the Year – Asia at the 2025 Minor Awards of Excellence.
