Immerse in Bali's Heritage with Jumeirah's Curated Mawedangan Ritual
Explore the unique Mawedangan ritual at Jumeirah Bali, designed to connect guests with local traditions and heritage.
Jumeirah Bali introduces a Curated Ritual to help guests appreciate local traditions, featuring Mawedangan, inspired by the regal Javanese tea ceremony called Patehan. Set in the resort’s serene surroundings, this ritual integrates royal Javanese tea customs with Balinese hospitality and storytelling elements.
Unique to the resort, Mawedangan captures the spirit of Balinese and Javanese heritage, reflecting its architectural inspiration from Majapahit palaces. The ritual is available for guests twice a week and during special occasions at a cost of IDR 600,000 net per person, with sessions for a minimum of two guests.
What is Mawedangan?
Every aspect of this exclusive ritual unfolds through gentle narration, symbolic gestures, and ceremonial elegance. Guests are introduced to a ceremonial procession where attendants present essential ritual elements for the comprehensive tea ceremony experience.
The experience begins with an aromatic journey featuring Indonesia’s finest teas: green, black, Java jasmine, white, and roselle. Participants may choose a tea to enjoy alongside traditional Indonesian sweets known as Jajan Pasar.
