The New Zealand Business Events Bid Champions Awards 2025 recognized industry leaders who successfully brought international conferences to New Zealand through the Conference Assistance Programme. This prestigious ceremony took place at Eden Park in Auckland on September 18.

New Zealand celebrated a total of 64 conference wins in the past financial year, contributing approximately $78.8 million to the economy. René de Monchy, the Chief Executive of Tourism New Zealand, highlighted that these conferences are instrumental in enhancing New Zealand’s visitor economy and benefiting its educational institutions, innovation sectors, and communities.

He noted that, “These bid champions have secured conferences in areas from health to the environment, law to information technology. Their dedication to securing these events means New Zealand will play a leading role in shaping the future of these sectors.”

Currently, Tourism New Zealand is pursuing 110 bids valued at $185 million, marking its highest aspirations to date, encouraging more champions to assist in expanding the conference pipeline.

Furthermore, Tourism New Zealand’s Conference Assistance Programme offers funding and support for those looking to bid for international conferences, which can enhance both personal and professional growth while showcasing New Zealand’s expertise globally.
