
Etihad Airways to Launch Flights to Damascus, Syria Starting June 12, 2026
Etihad Airways announces plans for a new route to Damascus, enhancing connectivity between the UAE and Syria.
Etihad Airways is expanding its global network by initiating flights to Damascus, Syria, beginning June 2026. This route is set to accommodate the increasing demand from travelers in the UAE and GCC, facilitating direct connections to Damascus. Additionally, it ensures access for travelers from Syria to the beautiful emirate of Abu Dhabi and enhances connectivity through Zayed International Airport.
The service will start with four weekly flights, operated by Airbus A320 aircraft, featuring eight business class seats and 150 in economy, promising comfort and quality service.
Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, remarked: “This new route reflects our commitment to connecting people to the places that matter most to them. We are proud to expand our network into Damascus – one of the world’s most historic and culturally important cities – and to support the Syrian population with direct links to and from Abu Dhabi, as well as convenient onward connections across our global network.”
With trade between the UAE and Syria showing a 23% increase in 2024, amounting to AED 2.5 billion (approximately US $680 million), and a notable Syrian population of over 350,000 residing in the UAE, these new flights will strengthen economic ties further.
