Greater Bay Airlines Launches Service to Datong

This week, Greater Bay Airlines begins scheduled flights to Datong, marking the eighth destination in its mainland China network.

Greater Bay Airlines (GBA) has commenced a new scheduled service to Datong, located in Shanxi Province, which adds to its roster of eight destinations within mainland China. The route offers two flights weekly, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, connecting Hong Kong to Datong Yungang International Airport.

Datong, classified as one of China’s ancient cities, has been recognized as a National Famous Historical and Cultural City by the State Council since 1982. It is home to several UNESCO World Heritage sites, including the Yungang Grottoes.

Renowned landmarks such as Mount Hengshan, one of China’s five great mountains, and various temples including Huayan Temple and Xuankong Temple are key attractions in the city. The Datong Art Museum, designed as a series of interconnected pyramids, is another notable site.

For bookings, travelers can visit the GBA website, use the GBA mobile application, or reach out to travel agents. Operating since July 2022, GBA currently offers flights to various destinations including Bangkok, Taipei, Tokyo, and Manila, utilizing a fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
