
Tourism Malaysia praised China Eastern Airlines for successfully launching its first direct service linking Taiyuan and Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, September 11.
As one of China’s significant cities known for its cultural heritage and economic vigor, the connection to Kuala Lumpur is anticipated to enhance visitor traffic and elevate Malaysia’s standing as a favored destination in Asia.
The inaugural Flight MU859 landed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 around 4:30 AM local time, marking the debut arrival from Taiyuan via Wuhan. This flight signifies a crucial advancement in strengthening air relations between Malaysia and northern China, fostering deeper cooperation in tourism and trade.
Beyond convenience
“This new air connection marks a significant step in fortifying the growing tourism ties between Malaysia and China,” said Lee Thai Hung. He added, “It underscores our commitment to establish Malaysia as a top travel destination, inviting more Chinese tourists to appreciate our rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes.”
China Eastern Airlines plans to operate this new route four times weekly, with a scheduled stop at Wuhan Tianhe International Airport, using Boeing 737-800 aircraft configured for 175 passengers for a pleasant flight experience.
