Royal Caribbean Commences Construction of Fourth Icon Class Ship

The new vessel promises to bring a unique experience to passengers as Royal Caribbean embarks on building its latest Icon Class cruise ship.

Royal Caribbean celebrated a significant milestone with the keel-laying ceremony for its fourth Icon Class vessel at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland. This event marks the beginning of construction for a ship set to debut in 2027, joining the existing ships, Icon, Star, and Legend of the Seas. The unnamed vessel will expand the unique experiences associated with the Icon Class, offering thrilling adventures and diverse dining options for families and vacationers.

First Steps

During the ceremony, the initial building block was placed in the dry dock to commence construction. The teams from Royal Caribbean and Meyer Turku performed a tradition for good luck by embedding freshly minted coins before the massive steel block, known as the keel, was positioned.
