Qatar Airways and China Southern Airlines Enhance Strategic Partnership Ahead of Golden Week

The expansion aims to boost connectivity between China and the world, enhancing travel options for customers.

Qatar Airways and China Southern Airlines are expanding their codeshare partnership with plans to increase flight frequencies between Doha and Beijing just in time for the Golden Week holiday period in China. This strategic move builds on the earlier Memorandum of Understanding, reinforcing a mutual commitment to improving global connectivity for travelers from China.

Starting on October 16, 2025, Qatar Airways will share its code on China Southern’s three direct weekly flights from Beijing Daxing to Doha. Meanwhile, China Southern will extend its “CZ” code on numerous Qatar Airways-operated flights to 15 destinations across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, including cities such as Amman, Athens, and Munich.

Thierry Antinori, Chief Commercial Officer of Qatar Airways, expressed that “this latest expansion ensures that every Qatar Airways route to China is now accessible to China Southern Airlines’ passengers, emphasizing our long-term commitment to a market that is essential for our expansion.”

In addition to existing codeshare agreements, China Southern will enhance its services between Doha and four major cities in China, pending governmental approvals, which includes connections with Guangzhou and but now adds services from Chengdu, Chongqing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai.

Furthermore, the partnership will streamline opportunities for Chinese travelers to access a range of destinations across the globe via Doha’s Hamad International Airport, fostering a significant increase in their travel options.

Qatar Airways and its partners are set to provide 64 weekly flights across eight gateways in Greater China, marking one of the most extensive airline networks facilitated by Qatar Airways. This development comes with continued collaboration on cargo operations and loyalty programs as both airlines aim to strengthen their ties.
