Jiangxi Air Launches First Direct Flight from Nanchang to Kuala Lumpur

Jiangxi Air's inaugural service between Nanchang and Kuala Lumpur signifies a growing relationship in tourism between Malaysia and China.

Tourism Malaysia warmly greeted Jiangxi Air’s inaugural flight between Nanchang and Kuala Lumpur on Monday, August 25.
Flight RY6607 successfully landed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), marking the establishment of the first direct flight connecting Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi Province, to Malaysia’s capital city.

Passengers and crew were celebrated with a welcome ceremony led by Malaysian Deputy Secretary-General of Tourism, Chua Choon Hwa, alongside Normah Osman, Deputy Secretary-General for Policy at the Malaysian Ministry of Transport.

Notable attendees included Samuel Lee, Director-General at Tourism Malaysia; MohD Izani Ghani, Managing Director of Malaysia Airport Holdings; and Jiangxi Air General Manager, Kang Zhiyang.

A Significant Milestone
This flight not only improves air connectivity but also fortifies tourism, trade, and investment ties between Malaysia and eastern China. Malaysian Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Tiong King Sing, remarked: “This new air link signifies the robust and increasing tourism collaboration between Malaysia and China. It enhances connectivity and supports our ongoing goal to position Malaysia as a premier travel destination in the region. We anticipate welcoming more Chinese visitors to enjoy Malaysia’s diverse cultural heritage, natural beauty, and offerings.”

Moreover, this Nanchang-Kuala Lumpur route represents a pivotal moment in Jiangxi Air’s history as its first scheduled international service, showcasing confidence in Malaysia’s tourism potential and emphasizing its role as a vital conduit to Southeast Asia.

Jiangxi Air plans to operate twice-weekly flights from Nanchang Changbei International Airport to KLIA Terminal 1, using its modern Boeing 737-800 aircraft with a 175-seat capacity. This new service is aimed at enhancing business travel, leisure tourism, and fostering exchanges between people, thus creating greater economic prospects for both nations.
