Wego, the primary online travel platform in MENA, recently shared vital insights on Saudi travelers’ preferences this summer, indicating robust interest in both European vacations and local experiences across the Kingdom.

Attraction of European Destinations

According to Wego, Europe remains a favored destination for Saudi travelers in summer 2025, with the most searched locations including Baku, Sarajevo, Tbilisi, London, Moscow, and Milan. Notably, Milan recorded a significant 25% increase in travel searches compared to last year.

Beyond these cities, the high volume of searches for other popular European destinations underscores the continent’s allure for Saudi holidaymakers.

Preferences in Accommodation

For accommodations, hotels are the primary choice for Saudi travelers heading to Europe, accounting for a substantial 80.50% of property searches in 2025. Apartments constitute a 7.06% preference, with travelers seeking the comforts of a home-like environment, while options such as aparthotels and hostels cover 3.70% and 3.36% of searches, respectively. Almost 45% of hotel searches target 4-star properties, with luxury 5-star hotels attracting 18.72% of interest.

Rising Domestic Travel

Wego’s data indicates that domestic travel bookings have surged to capture 35.10% of all summer bookings in 2025, marking a 5.66% increase from the previous year. This trend suggests an increasing desire among Saudi travelers to explore the Kingdom’s rich cultural, natural, and leisure offerings throughout summer.

The demographics of domestic travelers reveal a balanced variety of trip styles; solo journeys account for 68.30%, couples’ trips make up 16.02%, and family trips represent 7.93%.

Leading Local Cities for Bookings

The top domestic destinations for summer 2025 include Jeddah, Riyadh, Abha, Dammam, Al Madinah, and Jazan. Riyadh experienced a notable 19.37% increase in bookings, Jeddah saw an 18.61% rise, and Al Madinah soared by 37.18%. Dammam also witnessed a 23.13% growth, reflecting heightened interest in the Eastern Province’s attractions.

The Saudi Tourism Authority’s “Colour Your Summer” 2025 program introduces coastal and mountain retreats, special events, and exclusive offers, providing compelling reasons for travelers to venture locally. Furthermore, Jeddah Season 2025 encompasses family entertainment, beach experiences, and cultural showcases, making the Red Sea coastline a prime summer destination.
