Londoners Prioritize Convenience Over Cost When Flying: YouGov Research
As the school summer holidays start, new data reveals that convenience is the primary factor for Londoners in selecting an airport. According to a recent study conducted by YouGov for London City Airport, 60% of Londoners indicated that ease of access to the airport is their top priority, surpassing cost (48%) and options for destinations (40%). Families showed an even greater emphasis on convenience, with 63% stating it is their main consideration.
London City Airport, recognized for its efficiency, has launched a new premium car park just 40 meters from the terminal. This facility provides unparalleled convenience, allowing passengers to transition from their vehicle to the terminal in under a minute.
Research from the airport indicates that only 32% of Londoners park in private driveways, with many facing long walks from parked vehicles to their homes. The introduction of this parking option aims to eliminate such inconveniences and enhance the travel experience.
Andrew Hodges, Chief Commercial Officer at London City Airport, remarked:
“Whether you’re juggling kids, carry-ons, or just want a smoother start to your summer, we know that convenience is king, especially in a city like London, so it’s no surprise that it comes out on top in our research.”
He added, “We already offer the fastest airport experience in London, and the new premium car park is designed to provide an even easier start to the journey, with multiple travel options such as the DLR and buses available.”
Around 75% of travelers utilize public transportation to reach London City, while only 10% drive. The rollout of premium parking coincides with busy travel times, with approximately 60% of passengers flying for leisure this summer, with routes to popular destinations like Florence, Ibiza, and Nice.
