After a successful launch of services to Madagascar in September 2024, Emirates Airlines will increase its flight frequency from four to six weekly services starting on April 2, 2025. This move is aimed at supporting the tourism sector in Madagascar by accommodating an increasing number of travelers and enhancing global attention on the destination.
Increased Demand and Enhanced Connectivity
The announcement was made during a press conference by Madagascar’s Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Tourism, and Emirates in Antananarivo. The current flights have been fully booked, prompting the airline to make this change to better meet rising traveler demands.
Essa Sulaiman Ahmad, Emirates’ Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for West Asia and Indian Ocean, remarked: “We are pleased to boost our services to Madagascar by offering two additional flights per week in line with soaring demand for travel since the start of operations.”
Supporting Madagascar’s Tourism Growth
Emirates has also organized promotional trips for travel agents familiarizing them with Madagascar’s rich attractions, including three UNESCO World Heritage sites and diverse ecosystems.
Importance of Additional Flights
His Excellency Dr. Manambahoaka Valéry F. Ramonjavelo, Minister of Transport, noted that these additional flights represent a strong trust in Madagascar as a global travel destination. Viviane Dewa, Minister of Tourism, emphasized the importance of these new flights to reach Madagascar’s ambitious goal of attracting one million tourists by 2028.
The airline continues to reinforce its commitment to global connectivity and promoting the vibrant landscapes and unique culture of Madagascar.
