SkyNRG Appoints Richard Gort as New COO

SkyNRG announces the appointment of Richard Gort as COO to enhance its growth in sustainable aviation fuel production.

SkyNRG, a leader in Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), has appointed Richard Gort as its new Chief Operating Officer.

This strategic hire comes as SkyNRG enters a new phase of production and growth in sustainable fuels. Following a recent €250 million investment from APG, the company is well-positioned to develop SAF facilities in Delfzijl, Netherlands, as well as locations in Sweden and the United States.

Gort comes to SkyNRG from TenneT, where he served as Director of Customer Connections and Capacity. His extensive experience includes roles at Shell, TNO, and several other organizations in the energy sector.

SkyNRG aims to scale its SAF production, assisting the aviation sector in achieving its 2050 net-zero targets. Their projections suggest that global SAF supply could reach 18.1 million mt by 2035, which is still short of the estimated demand.

In Gort’s own words, “It’s fabulous to witness the ambitious international outlook that brought me here. I’m excited to contribute a strategic perspective as we expand.”

Gort has already taken up his role at SkyNRG, focusing on scaling operations and driving growth.
