Ascott, the hospitality arm of CapitaLand Investment, has entered into a significant partnership with Coronade Properties Sdn Bhd to operate the hotel component of the Coronation Square development.

The management agreement was officially signed in Singapore, with the presence of Johor Menteri Besar, Onn Hafiz bin Ghazi, and Singapore’s Minister of Trade and Industry and National Development, Alvin Tan. Their attendance highlighted the commitment of both Johor and Singapore towards fostering cross-border collaboration through enhanced infrastructure and investment.

Datin Paduka Alinah Ahmad, Director of Corporate Relations at Coronade Properties, stated: “We are proud to partner with Ascott on this landmark hotel, which will serve as a premier gateway for both business and leisure travellers. This partnership marks an exciting new chapter in Johor’s real estate landscape.”

Wong Kar Ling, Ascott’s Chief Strategy Officer, emphasized the growth potential for Johor Bahru, noting: “The hotel will introduce the Ascott brand to this market, capturing the rising demand from corporate and leisure segments. This commitment strengthens our presence in Malaysia’s hospitality sector.”

Scheduled to open in the latter part of 2029, the Ascott Coronation Square Johor Bahru will boast 207 rooms and various amenities designed for leisure and business travelers, including restaurants and meeting spaces. The project represents a vital step in Johor Bahru’s transformation into a world-class destination.
