The Cathay Group Reveals Impressive Interim Results for 2025
The Cathay Group announced a robust report concerning its 2025 interim results today, August 6th. This announcement also included the exercise of rights to purchase an additional 14 Boeing 777-9 aircraft, expanding their total order to 35 aircraft.
Chair Patrick Healy stated: “Over the past few years, we have embarked on a comprehensive fleet renewal and expansion initiative that entails orders for over 100 new aircraft of various types. This latest order increases our total investment to over HK$100 billion, covering new cabin products, lounges, and digital advancements, thus strengthening Hong Kong’s status as an international aviation hub while enhancing customer experience.”
Healy highlighted that Cathay and HK Express have already announced or launched 19 new destinations this year, with plans for more. The Cathay Group’s airlines now serve over 100 global passenger destinations, significantly enhancing Hong Kong’s connectivity worldwide.
“Recognitions in industry rankings have been a tremendous honor for us. Cathay Pacific has been recognized as one of the world’s top three airlines and received accolades for the best Economy Class and inflight entertainment, thanks to Skytrax. Additionally, Cathay Cargo was named Cargo Operator of the Year by Air Transport World, and HK Express was ranked among the top five low-cost airlines globally by Airline Ratings. These achievements are attributed to the unwavering support from our customers and the commitment from our team,” added Healy.
Exceptional Outcomes for H1-2025
Cathay reported an attributable profit of HK$3.7 billion for the first half of 2025, remaining comparable to profits from the same period in 2024. The enhanced results stemmed from its increased passenger capacity and volume despite lower yields, a robust cargo business, and reductions in fuel costs.
The Group’s strong performance has enabled it to declare its first interim dividend payment of HK20 cents per ordinary share, totaling HK$1.3 billion, matching the dividend amount from 2024.
Enhanced Customer Experience
Cathay continues to roll out numerous enhancements aimed at improving customer experience. Upcoming improvements include new cabin products, innovative lounges, and enhanced dining options. Cathay Pacific’s Aria Suite Business Class cabins and inflight entertainment have received multiple design awards.
Further, the airline plans to introduce brand new cabins and a flat-bed Business class on existing Airbus A330s by 2026, followed by a leading First-class experience on its Boeing 777-9s, which are expected to start arriving in 2027. Moreover, modifications to the current regional Business class on select A330-300 and 777-300 aircraft are set to be completed this year.
Starting this month, Cathay Pacific stands among the fraction of airlines offering complete seatback inflight entertainment and connectivity across its entire fleet. Significant redevelopment of its lounges is ongoing, with the newly redesigned Bridge lounge recently opening at Hong Kong International Airport, and other lounges to follow later this year.
