Dusit International Expands Its Saudi Arabian Portfolio
Dusit International is set to unveil the dusitD2 Al Ahsa resort, catering to both business and leisure travelers, in a significant expansion in Saudi Arabia.
Thai hotel and property development firm Dusit International has officially signed a hotel management agreement with the Al Ghadeer Group of Companies to operate the dusitD2 Al Ahsa resort.
This new addition is a higher upscale resort situated within the Al Ahsa Oasis, a UNESCO World Heritage site in eastern Saudi Arabia. The signing ceremony took place under the patronage of Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr Al Saud, the governor of Al Ahsa, and was attended by many esteemed dignitaries.
Noteworthy attendees included Naif Al Madi, Chief Business Officer of the Tourism Development Fund, Sheikh Bassem Al Ghadeer, Chairman of the Al Ghadeer Group, and Gilles Cretallaz, Chief Operating Officer of Dusit International.
In his remarks, Cretallaz stated:
“This important signing reflects our strategic commitment to bringing Dusit’s unique brand of Thai-inspired, gracious hospitality to key destinations worldwide and our dedication to delivering sustainable value for the communities we serve. We are delighted to partner with Al Ghadeer Group to create a destination that celebrates Al Ahsa’s rich heritage and natural beauty while offering exceptional comfort, modern luxury, responsible design, and memorable experiences for guests of all ages.”
Design Inspiration
Scheduled to open in 2027, dusitD2 Al Ahsa emphasizes Dusit International’s expansion in the Middle East, where it currently operates nine properties while exploring opportunities for holistic hospitality experiences across the region.
This will be the second Dusit-branded property in Saudi Arabia, following the planned opening of the Dusit Princess Al Majma’ah in Riyadh by the end of this year. Located approximately 30 minutes by car from Al Ahsa International Airport and 90 minutes from Dammam, this resort is set against palm-fringed landscapes and imposing mountain vistas.
The resort will feature 120 spacious suites, ranging from one-bedroom to three-bedroom configurations, each designed with a private terrace and plunge pool to enhance guest privacy and comfort. The architectural design by El Ghoneimi Architects, based in Cairo, draws inspiration from the desert’s beauty, nearby mountains, and the symbolic significance of the palm trees thriving in Al Ahsa Oasis.
Facilities Designed for Guests
Guests will enjoy various premium facilities, including a wellness center, meditation areas, yoga spaces, an elegant ballroom covering 1,500 sq m, and expansive outdoor venues for events. The resort will also feature a vibrant all-day dining restaurant, a lobby café, a large outdoor swimming pool, and a dedicated children’s club.
Surrounded by cultural and ecological treasures such as Al Qarah Mountain, Juatha Park, and the historic Qaisariah Souq, the resort aims to offer a gateway for travelers seeking immersive experiences amidst the largest oasis in the world.
