Batik Air Launches New Route Enhancing Thailand-Malaysia Connectivity
Batik Air has introduced a direct flight route between Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, marking a pivotal step in boosting travel between Thailand and Malaysia.
Batik Air has successfully launched a new direct service connecting Bangkok in Thailand to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. This new route was officially welcomed on the 28th of July, marking a vital advancement in travel connectivity for both countries.
Flight Details
The inaugural flight departed from Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) in Bangkok and landed at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (Subang Airport). This operation is part of Batik Air’s strategy to enhance its role as a significant player in the regional airline market and to support Malaysia’s tourism sector, particularly in preparation for Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026).
Manoharan Periasamy, Director-General of Tourism Malaysia, emphasized the importance of this development, stating:
“We applaud Batik Air’s commitment to expanding Malaysia’s regional and domestic air connectivity. These new routes come at a crucial time as we prepare for VM2026. Thailand is one of our key markets, and improved access will play a significant role in increasing tourist arrivals and contributing to the growth of Malaysia’s tourism industry.”
A Step Forward for Batik Air
The service is operated by a Boeing 737 aircraft, marking Batik Air’s first international connection from Subang, facilitating easier access for business and leisure travelers. The airport’s proximity to Kuala Lumpur’s city center provides a convenient alternative to the main Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Additionally, Batik Air has also launched new domestic flights from Subang to Kuching, reinforcing its increasing domestic network.
With 57 weekly flights currently scheduled between Malaysia and Thailand—including major destinations like Bangkok, Phuket, and Krabi—Batik Air aims to deliver a total capacity of over 9,234 seats.
