Jordan has experienced a remarkable growth in tourism during the first half of 2025, with a rise of 14% in overnight visitors compared to the previous year. Visitors from Europe accounted for approximately 191,000, while North America contributed around 79,000, and Asia offered 84,000 visitors.
According to the statistics released by the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB), overnight tourist arrivals from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries saw a 6% boost, totaling 633,000 visitors during this period, compared to 597,000 last year. Saudi Arabia led the influx with 564,000 overnight tourists, reflecting an 8% rise since the same period in 2024. The United Arab Emirates also saw a 15% increase with 10,000 visitors, while Kuwait experienced an 11% drop with 32,000 visitors.
Jordan's prime tourist destinations showed notable increases in visitor numbers. The ancient city of Petra attracted 200,000 foreign tourists, marking a 17% growth, Mount Nebo saw a 12% increase with 105,000 visitors, and Jerash welcomed about 69,000 tourists.
Dr. Abdulrazzaq Arabiyat, Managing Director of the Jordan Tourism Board, commented on these encouraging figures:
“These positive results reflect the growing trust of international travelers, particularly from the Gulf, in Jordan’s tourism offerings. Despite regional challenges, our shared traditions and proximity continue to position Jordan as an attractive destination for families and individuals from the Gulf.”
