IATA Report Reveals Slowing Growth in Air Travel for June 2025

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) published its global passenger demand report for June 2025, highlighting a deceleration in growth for the sector.

Total demand, noted as revenue passenger kilometers (RPK), showed an increase of 2.6% compared to June 2024, while total capacity, or available seat kilometers (ASK), increased by 3.4% year-on-year. The load factor for June reached 84.5%, slightly down by 0.6 percentage points from June 2024.

International Demand

International travel demand rose by 3.2% against June 2024, with capacities rising 4.2%, and a load factor of 84.4% noted.

In contrast, domestic travel saw a 1.6% increase in demand, with capacity up 2.1% and a load factor of 84.7%, down by 0.4 percentage points from last year.

IATA’s Director-General, Willie Walsh, remarked: “In June, demand for air travel grew by 2.6 percent. That’s a slower pace than we have seen in previous months and reflects disruptions around military conflict in the Middle East… At 84.5 percent globally, however, load factors are still very strong.”
