Goibibo has conducted an extensive survey revealing key differences in travel behaviors among female and male students. The findings stem from 50,000 verified bookings made through the Student GoPass initiative since January 2025.
Key Insights:
- Travel Preferences: Female students tend to prefer flights over ground transport, with 36% booking domestic flights versus 23% of male students. Conversely, 50% of males opt for buses and trains compared to just 34% of females.
- Payment Trends: 71% of female students prefer UPI payments, while this figure is 64% for males. Interestingly, female students are 50% less likely to choose ‘Pay Later’ options compared to their male peers.
- Budget Consciousness: A significant 74% of student travelers secure accommodations costing below ₹3,000 per night, emphasizing a strong budget sensitivity among this demographic.
- GoPass Program: This program was launched to meet the specific needs of students looking for affordable travel options. Students can benefit from exclusive discounts on both flights and accommodations, including a flat 25% discount on hotel bookings and additional offers on transportation options.
This data reveals that while both genders are value-conscious, distinct preferences influence their travel decisions.
