Qatar Airways Marks 20 Years in Delhi and 30 Years in Kolkata with a Special Culinary Collaboration

The airline celebrates significant anniversaries in India, featuring a unique inflight menu created by Michelin-starred Chef Garima Arora.

Qatar Airways achieves a remarkable double anniversary in India this year: 20 years serving Delhi on July 14, 2025, and 30 years serving Kolkata on October 31, 2025. These milestones underscore the airline’s strong dedication to one of its most strategically vital and culturally vibrant markets.

The airline commenced operations in India in 1994, initially with Mumbai as its entry point. Since then, it has expanded to cover 13 Indian cities, adding Kolkata in 1995 and Delhi in 2005. Presently, Qatar Airways operates 100 flights weekly across the country, including 14 flights weekly from Delhi and seven flights weekly from Kolkata, ensuring passengers have seamless travel options for both business and leisure.

In the fiscal year 2024/25, over 2.4 million passengers traveled in and out of India under Qatar Airways. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the airline maintained operations and facilitated the repatriation of more than 1.8 million passengers from India between April 2020 and March 2022.

Qatar Airways Cargo also plays a pivotal role in India’s import, export, and trade, with a weekly cargo capacity of 2,990 tonnes for both inbound and outbound flights, operating a total of 120 flights weekly, including 20 flights with Boeing 777 freighters.

“We are incredibly proud to celebrate these two significant anniversaries in India,” stated Karthik Viswanathan, Vice President of Sales, Middle East, Caucasus, Pakistan & the Indian Sub-Continent. “Since our debut in India in 1994, we’ve cultivated strong relationships with our Indian clients and partners, built on excellence and a vision of global connectivity.”

To mark the occasion, Qatar Airways is launching an exclusive business class menu in collaboration with renowned Chef Garima Arora, a Michelin-starred chef and the first Indian woman to lead a kitchen with such acclaim. This bespoke menu, set to debut in September 2025, is designed to enhance the inflight experience with India’s exquisite regional flavors that emphasize signature appetizers, main courses, and desserts exclusively crafted for the airline’s business class patrons.

Viswanathan mentioned, “Through this partnership with Chef Garima, we are excited to highlight India’s rich culinary heritage on an international platform, showcasing it to a global audience while providing our passengers with exceptional onboard dining.”

Qatar Airways’s commitment to delivering a premium onboard experience and engaging with top culinary talents globally has solidified its status as a leader in the aviation sector, having been recognized as the ‘World’s Best Business Class’ for the twelfth time in 2025 and awarded ‘World’s Best Airline’ for an unprecedented ninth time.

The airline serves over 170 global destinations through the prestigious Hamad International Airport, celebrated as the World’s Best Airport as awarded by Skytrax in the years 2021, 2022, and 2024.
