Algeria and China Strengthen Ties in Tourism and Digital Development

A framework agreement was signed recently aimed at enhancing collaboration in tourism and digital sectors between Algeria and China.

Algerian and Chinese companies recently finalized a framework agreement designed to enhance collaboration in digital development along with promoting tourism and hospitality services. This agreement was signed on July 15 in Algiers at the El Djazair hotel, marking a significant step in bilateral relations.

The signing was overseen by Houria Meddahi, Algeria’s Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts. The event was attended by various government officials, senior executives, and accredited ambassadors in Algeria, concluding the 24th edition of the International Tourism and Travel Fair (SITEV 2025).

Following the signing, Meddahi emphasized the significance of this agreement with China in relation to Algeria’s strategy to digitize its tourism sector, highlighting the importance of digital marketing to represent its tourism accurately. Additionally, she stated that the agreement showcases a commitment to strengthening ties within the tourism sector between the two nations.

Moreover, Dong Guangli, the Chinese ambassador to Algeria, expressed optimism regarding the relationship between Algeria and China, noting that both countries are eager to expand cooperation across multiple sectors, culture, and tourism included. He further emphasized Algeria’s rich cultural heritage as a vital asset for its tourism sector.
