
Puerto Banús was the venue last night for an unforgettable night celebrating the Marbella Gala for International Gastronomy, uniting nearly 300 guests at the Muelle de Honor. The event, part of the Tourism Plan for Major Cities by the Junta de Andalucía, was remarkable for blending Chinese and Arabic cuisines, showcasing the multiculturalism that makes Marbella a distinctive luxury destination.
Attendees enjoyed an exquisite tasting of dishes crafted by Syrian-Palestinian chef Heba Kharouf and renowned Chinese chef Zhao Xiaowei, who owns twelve restaurants in China. Both chefs amazed guests with innovative offerings that reflected the richness of their ancestral recipes and creativity in haute cuisine.

The event was attended by Puerto Banús CEO Juan Núñez, who emphasized the importance of such events in enhancing Marbella’s image as a leader in luxury and international cuisine. Additionally, Marbella’s mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, expressed her happiness about the continued success of this annual initiative, which positions the city as a global epicenter of culinary culture and diversity.
A video message from Mayor Huan Jinyuan of Hangzhou was presented, inviting the mayor to visit the Chinese city in September and sign a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen friendly cooperation between both cities. The preparation of a technological event in Marbella, supported by The Pool and Unicorn Dragon, was also announced, aimed at gathering innovative projects from China with international investors.
The night’s menu featured delicacies such as Fatté eggplant, duck with caramelized lotus and 5J ham, oven-baked sea bass with tahini sauce, Dongpo steak, and the traditional knafé, paired with wines from Descalzos Viejos winery in Ronda.
This event reaffirms Marbella’s commitment to diversifying its tourism offerings through top-tier cultural and gastronomic experiences, solidifying its status as a destination that blends sun, beach, and rich cultural vibrancy.
