The Saudi Ministry of Tourism reports an unprecedented influx of 115.9 million tourists in 2024, including a record 29.7 million inbound visitors.

The Saudi Ministry of Tourism recently announced its annual report for 2024, showcasing a landmark year for the kingdom’s tourism sector, which witnessed unprecedented growth.

According to the report, Saudi Arabia welcomed a staggering 115.9 million tourists in 2024, featuring 29.7 million inbound travelers. This marks an 8% year-on-year increase and an impressive 70% growth compared to pre-pandemic figures in 2019. Among these, 86.2 million Saudi citizens explored their nation, highlighting the rising appeal of local attractions.

The report also indicates a 19% increase in international tourist spending, with visitors staying an average of 19 nights.

One notable highlight of 2024 occurred in March, when the country saw a peak of 3.2 million inbound tourists coinciding with the Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in Jeddah, demonstrating the impact of large events on international travel.

In terms of rankings, Saudi Arabia holds the top position among G20 nations for the fastest growth in incoming tourists and ranks second globally in terms of inbound tourist growth compared to the same period in 2019, as per UN Tourism data.

Ahmed Al-Khateeb, the Minister of Tourism, emphasized the crucial steps taken toward infrastructure enhancements and event organization, acknowledging tourism’s significant role in cultural exchange and national identity:

“These achievements, both domestic and international, strengthen our belief in the importance of tourism and its role as a driver of cultural and civilizational interaction, a bridge connecting peoples, and a window through which the world can discover the Kingdom’s deep-rooted history, rich cultural heritage, and authentic national identity.”

Saudi’s strategy aligns closely with Vision 2030, aiming to diversify the economy and enhance its status as a prime tourist destination.
