AirAsia X Celebrates First Month of Karachi-Kuala Lumpur Service

AirAsia X marks the successful opening of its Karachi to Kuala Lumpur route with strong initial performance metrics.

AirAsia’s medium-haul affiliate AirAsia X (AAX) celebrated its first complete month of operations on the Karachi–Kuala Lumpur route on June 30. This route has seen an average load factor of 80% following its inaugural flight on May 30.

The sustained demand from Karachi and Kuala Lumpur emphasizes a thriving air travel market connecting Pakistan and Malaysia. Consequently, forward bookings for upcoming quarters remain robust, indicating strong confidence in the long-term viability of this route.

CEO Benyamin Ismail remarked on the performance: > “The response to this route has exceeded our expectations. We are not only connecting two vibrant cities but also providing affordable access to over 130 destinations across the AirAsia network. This is aligned with our strategy of expanding into high-potential, underserved markets with a strong demand for value-based medium-haul travel.”

Meanwhile, Malaysian High Commissioner to Pakistan Mohammad Azhar Bin Mazlan added: > “The launch of AAX direct flights between Karachi and Kuala Lumpur, and the strong momentum it has achieved in just one month, marks a significant step forward in strengthening the people-to-people, economic, and cultural ties between Malaysia and Pakistan. This enhanced air connectivity opens new avenues for trade, tourism, education, and investment. We commend AAX for improving regional connectivity and are proud to support its efforts in making Malaysia even more accessible to travelers from Pakistan, especially as we look forward to Visit Malaysia 2026.”

Additionally, over half of Pakistani passengers are connected through Kuala Lumpur to various ASEAN destinations via AirAsia’s Fly-Thru service. Notable connecting cities include Bali, Phuket, Singapore, Perth, and Melbourne, showcasing an increasing interest in multi-stop travel among Pakistani travelers. A remarkable 90% of over 7,000 travelers in this sector thus far are non-Malaysians, underlining the route’s importance in consolidating Kuala Lumpur’s position as a regional hub.

To commemorate this achievement, AAX is offering limited-time promotional one-way fares starting at PKR 59,999 from Karachi to Kuala Lumpur, and RM 759 from Kuala Lumpur to Karachi. Bookings are available now through the AirAsia MOVE app, airasia.com, and authorized travel agents until July 6, for travel from July 14, 2025, to June 30, 2026.
