
New Appointments Announced for Hotel The Mitsui
Hotel The Mitsui names new general managers for its Hakone and Kyoto properties.
Japanese ultra-luxury accommodations brand Hotel The Mitsui has announced the appointment of new general managers for its Hakone and Kyoto properties.
Effective July 1, Manabu Kusui has been appointed as the founding general manager of Hotel The Mitsui Hakone, which is set to open in Kowakudani, Hakone next year. At the same time, Yoshihito Kaseda has been named the new general manager at Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto.
Under their leadership, the brand will continue to exemplify its concept of Embracing Japan Beauty, focusing on deeply immersive experiences rooted in local culture and nature.
Meet Manabu Kusui
Kusui was instrumental in the pre-opening stages of Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto and will now oversee the launch of the Hakone property while serving as cluster general manager for both establishments. He stated, “It is both an honor and a humbling responsibility to be appointed as the cluster general manager for Hotel The Mitsui, as well as founding general manager of Hotel The Mitsui Hakone.” He emphasized the privilege of being part of the brand’s journey since the opening of the Kyoto property in November 2020.
Kusui began his career in 1994 at Park Hyatt Tokyo and has held key leadership roles including director of sales at The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo, and deputy general manager at Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo.
Meet Yoshihito Kaseda
Yoshihito Kaseda joins Hotel The Mitsui with extensive experience from luxury hotels and resorts, including positions at Mandarin Oriental Tokyo and Claridge’s in London. He expressed gratitude for his new role at Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto, stating, “It is a true honor to be entrusted with this important role, building upon the singular legacy established under the leadership of former general manager Kusui.”
Kaseda began his hospitality career in 2004 and has a wealth of international experience that he will draw upon in his new position.
