Support for No Tax on Tips Legislation from AHLA

The American Hotel & Lodging Association emphasizes the significance of tips for hospitality workers and backs new tax legislation.

AHLA Supports Legislation on Tips

The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) has expressed its commitment to ensuring that hospitality workers, from housekeepers to food service staff, can take home more of their earnings. The association argues that tips are crucial for the livelihoods of many individuals within the hotel and lodging sectors.

AHLA President & CEO Rosanna Maietta voiced her support for the proposed No Tax on Tips legislation during an event with President Trump in Nevada, stating:

“The hotel industry is a people-first business that supports millions of employees and welcomes guests every day. The No Tax on Tips proposal is essential for the over 800,000 workers receiving tips to retain more of their income.”

Maietta further elaborated that this proposal aids those individuals striving to achieve the American Dream by providing them with greater financial resources. She envisions ongoing collaboration between the AHLA, the Administration, and Congress to help maintain and enhance beneficial tax provisions that drive job growth within the industry.

In June, President Trump revealed a strategy to exclude workers’ tips from federal taxation. The No Tax on Tips Act of 2025 would allow eligible taxpayers to deduct up to $25,000 in qualified tips, with safeguards to ensure the benefits are properly allocated.
