Japanese global payment brand JCB Co, Ltd has announced that JCB cardholders in China are now able to utilize their contactless cards for rides on the subway systems in Shanghai and Beijing, removing the need for prior ticket purchases.

Through this enhanced service, JCB cardmembers can swiftly tap their contactless payment cards at subway gates or dedicated readers for fare payments, promoting a quick and user-friendly experience.

This service, beneficial for overseas travelers, spans all underground lines in both metropolises.

Urban Convenience

  • In Shanghai, the service supports all 21 subway lines and 517 stations.
  • In Beijing, usage covers 29 subway lines and 523 stations.
  • Airport routes are included, providing more convenience for international tourists.

This initiative signifies a groundbreaking development, being the first instance of contactless subway payment services provided to international cardholders in mainland China. It not only enhances the travel experience but also encourages the adoption of digital payments.
