TWAI Acquires Travello, Expanding Its Global Footprint in Travel Experiences

TWAI's recent acquisition of Travello aims to enhance its market presence and broaden distribution capabilities.

TWAI, a US-based travel technology firm, has recently announced the acquisition of Travello, a social travel platform and B2C tour marketplace, on June 26th. This strategic acquisition is poised to enhance TWAI’s direct-to-consumer engagement and broaden its B2B integrations.

The deal is significant as it positions TWAI as a leader in the expanding experiential travel sector across the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe. By integrating Travello into its offerings, TWAI aims to amplify its recognition in consumer innovation and global distribution.

Both firms plan to collaborate on delivering tailored experiences to airlines and OTAs in the coming months, promising enhanced personalisation features and reseller APIs.

In a statement, Moondeep Aggarwal, TWAI’s COO, highlighted the importance of entering the tours and activities market, noting that Travello’s established community and infrastructure align perfectly with TWAI’s goals.

Ryan Hanly, Travello’s CEO, expressed excitement about the partnership, emphasizing the potential for scaling their services to a global audience, while Josh Wicks, COO of Travello, outlined plans to leverage TWAI’s solutions in the Australian and New Zealand markets.

Travello is recognized for its vibrant travel community and advanced marketplace for travel experiences, boasting a catalogue of over 40,000 tours and activities worldwide. Its platform uniquely integrates social networking and commerce, creating a strong community of over 1.2 million users in 180 countries.

Additionally, Backpacker Deals, an affordable travel adventure brand, will be incorporated into Travello’s offerings, catering to independent travelers seeking authentic experiences in Australia and New Zealand.

This acquisition marks an essential step for TWAI, as it continues to innovate within the travel technology landscape.
