Indonesia AirAsia Begins Service to Adelaide, Expanding Travel Options

Indonesia AirAsia has successfully launched flights to Adelaide, enhancing travel choices for Australians wishing to visit Bali and beyond.

Indonesia AirAsia touched down in Adelaide for the first time yesterday, 26th June, opening up more choices for holidaymakers from South Australia heading to Bali. This marks Indonesia AirAsia’s debut in Adelaide, further strengthening its international network via Bali as a key transit hub. The new route opens access to AirAsia’s 130 destinations across Asia and beyond.

Indonesia AirAsia will operate four flights a week to Bali using the 180-seat A320-200 aircraft, creating more than 74,000 visitor seats per year at Adelaide Airport. Flights on the new route will depart Adelaide every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, returning every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

Opening doors to Asia and beyond

According to Achmad Sadikin Abdurachman, acting CEO of Indonesia AirAsia: “We invite South Australians to take advantage of our new direct flights to Bali from Adelaide, our fourth Australian destination after Perth, Darwin, and Cairns. This service expands options for travelers seeking an affordable gateway to over 130 destinations across Asia and beyond.”

Abdurachman noted that the new route allows South Australians to visit favored destinations via its FlyThru service. Travelers can connect beyond Bali to explore other locations in Indonesia, like Jakarta and Labuan Bajo, home to the iconic Komodo National Park.

Brenton Cox, Adelaide Airport’s managing director, remarked: “This will provide greater choice for travelers as Adelaide’s first non-stop Asia-based low-cost carrier since 2015.” He emphasized that this development of affordable travel options is crucial for the growth of the market and for achieving the airport’s network goals.
