Surge in National RV Bookings and New Travel Destinations for Summer

CamperDays reveals a notable increase in national RV bookings, highlighting new travel preferences among Spaniards.

CamperDays, the leading RV booking platform, has identified a significant rise in national bookings for the summer 2025 season. While Canada remains the top international destination at 23% of bookings, Spain and Italy are emerging as appealing options for Spanish travelers, each accounting for 12% of reservations.

This shift in travel preferences shows an increasing interest in domestic tourism. Spaniards are rediscovering their country and opting for RV routes, offering not just comfort and flexibility but also the chance to explore lesser-known places and enjoy nature. “Choosing to travel by RV helps to avoid crowds while maximizing the environment sustainably,” states Adriana Neves, Marketing Manager of CamperDays.

The most popular pickup stations in Spain support this trend, with Bilbao leading at 29% of bookings, followed by Madrid at 21%. This suggests a growing preference for northern Spain, particularly regions like the Basque Country, Cantabria, and Asturias, which are ideal for RV tours.

Moreover, the platform has noted the rise of unconventional international destinations, like Japan and Botswana, which, although still a small fraction of total reservations, reflect an interest in long-distance travel and diverse cultural experiences. This phenomenon indicates a diversification in Spanish travelers’ preferences.

With a 40% growth in the past year, CamperDays facilitates travel planning, allowing users to quickly and easily compare models, prices, and conditions. As summer approaches, RV travel solidifies as a favorite option for those seeking adventure, freedom, and closer contact with nature.
