Thai Airways and Turkish Airlines Forge Collaborative Business Agreement
Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) and Turkish Airlines formally signed a joint business agreement yesterday, 1st June, in New Delhi, India. The signing was held during the 81st IATA Annual General Meeting and is seen as a vital step towards enhancing cooperation between the two flag-carriers.
This collaboration builds on the successful launch of THAI’s daily flights from Bangkok to Istanbul, which began in December 2023, complementing Turkish Airlines’ extensive flight network. The agreement is expected to positively impact the tourism sectors of both nations and significantly contribute to local and transit passenger traffic.
Through this agreement, the Star Alliance member airlines aim to unlock substantial passenger traffic potential between Türkiye and Thailand. With Turkish Airlines’ renowned global network and Thai Airways’ strong presence in the Asia Pacific, passengers can expect a seamless travel experience across the globe.
Thai Airways CEO Chai Eamsiri stated, “The agreement between THAI and Turkish Airlines on operating codeshare flights in the Bangkok-Istanbul route is scheduled to be implemented in the winter 2025-2026 flight schedule, subject to authority approval. This agreement enhances routes and explores further business opportunities in the future. Under THAI’s ‘Network Airline’ strategy, passengers will have convenient connections to domestic and regional destinations within Asia.”
Turkish Airlines’ Chairman Ahmet Bolat remarked, “We are pleased to strengthen the existing cooperation between Turkish Airlines and THAI, marking a milestone in developing tourism potential between Türkiye and Thailand. The partnership will enhance seamless travel, connectivity, and options for passengers using both airlines’ networks.”
