Birmingham Airport Readies for 466,363 Passengers This Holiday

Birmingham Airport anticipates a record number of passengers thanks to upcoming bank holiday and half term travel.

Birmingham Airport (BHX) is gearing up to accommodate 466,363 passengers during the upcoming bank holiday and half term break, marking a 9% increase compared to the previous year. The focused travel period from Friday, June 23rd to Monday, June 26th will see 189,594 travelers passing through the airport.

The most popular routes during this period include:

  • Antalya
  • Alicante
  • Palma de Mallorca
  • Dubai
  • Amsterdam

New routes to Milan, Brussels, and Bologna are also contributing to this surge.

Statement from Al Titterington

Al Titterington, the Terminal Operations Director at Birmingham Airport, shared his insights:

“Nearly 470,000 passengers will travel through Birmingham Airport this half term for getaways.” “This year will be our busiest ever for passenger travel and we are ensuring we are ready for this, with investments in terminal facilities.”

Customer Guidelines

Despite the heavy traffic, BHX advises customers to follow specific guidelines to ensure a smooth experience:

  • Only containers up to 100ml for liquids should be in hand luggage.
  • All electronic devices should be kept in hand luggage during security checks.
  • Personal belongings should be secured at all times.
  • Check-in zones are designated for different airlines as follows:
    • Zone A for Jet2
    • Zone D for Emirates
    • Zones B & C for all other airlines.
  • Vapes and e-cigarettes are allowed in hand luggage but not in checked baggage.
