Delta Launches Daily Flights from New York-JFK to Catania, Sicily

Delta Air Lines announces new nonstop service, connecting New York to Catania.

Starting May 21, 2025, travelers will have the opportunity to experience Delta’s new daily nonstop flights from New York-JFK to Catania, making it Delta’s inaugural service to Sicily. This route is notable for being the sole direct connection between Catania and the United States.

Delta aims to strengthen the connection between Sicily and the U.S., ensuring that passengers can access one of Italy’s enchanting destinations. Catania, located on Sicily’s eastern coast near Mount Etna, offers a rich tapestry of history, culture, and natural splendor, from bustling markets and striking baroque structures to stunning coastline and acclaimed cuisine.

Nearby attractions include the ancient Greek theatre in Taormina, the historic center of Siracusa, and the baroque beauty of Noto.

“Catania will be Delta’s fifth destination in Italy, joining Rome, Milan, Venice, and Naples,” stated Matteo Curcio, Delta’s Senior Vice President for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India. “Sicily remains a top choice for many travelers, especially for Italian Americans. We believe our service will enhance the local economy through increased tourism while providing Sicilians excellent connectivity to the U.S.”

The new flights will operate on a Boeing 767-300, accommodating 216 passengers, showcasing a variety of amenities tailored for all types of travelers. Delta has expanded its collaboration with renowned Italian fashion brand Missoni, introducing exclusive bedding and an upgraded amenity kit in their Delta One collection. Passengers can indulge in a sophisticated travel experience with lie-flat seating, gourmet four-course meals, and Taittinger Champagne, all complemented by Missoni designs.

Delta’s commitment to excellence is evident in its offerings, including over 1,000 hours of entertainment available through Delta Studio, plus complimentary fast Wi-Fi powered by T-Mobile on transatlantic flights.

Those traveling in the Delta One cabin will benefit from access to the exclusive Delta One Lounge at JFK, designed intricately to reflect New York’s vibrant style, replete with a brasserie, wellness facilities, and a library lounge embracing Missoni’s flair.

This summer, Delta will operate up to 110 weekly flights connecting Italy and the U.S., marking a 15% increase in its routes compared to last year, reinforcing its status as a leading airline within the Italian market.

Whether reconnecting with family roots, exploring Sicily for the first time, or seeking new adventures, Delta’s new service to Catania serves as a gateway to the Mediterranean’s enchanting allure.
