Finnair Set to Provide Unprecedented Flight Options to Lapland for Winter
Finnair announces record flight capacity to Finnish Lapland for the upcoming winter season, including increased services to popular destinations.
Next winter, Finnair will offer a record number of flights to Finnish Lapland, boosting its service to well-known winter destinations such as Rovaniemi, Ivalo, and Kittilä. These new services are scheduled especially for the busiest travel days, mainly around the weekends when many rental cabins turn over.
“We are excited to provide our customers with even better connections to all our Lapland destinations throughout the winter. The extra flights will primarily target the peak season from December to February, with additional flights in March, thus expanding the winter travel window,” said Perttu Jolma, Vice President of Network at Finnair.
Next winter, Finnair, famously referred to as Santa’s airline, will operate as many as 72 flights weekly to Rovaniemi, which is 10 flights more than last winter. During peak times, the airline will fly to Rovaniemi up to 16 times a day on Saturdays and 14 times on Sundays.
Kittilä, a popular destination for travelers going to Levi and Ylläs, will see up to 41 flights per week this winter, an increase of seven flights compared to the previous year. On the busiest weekends, Finnair will operate up to eight flights a day to Kittilä on both Saturdays and Sundays. Moreover, Finnair’s northernmost destination, Ivalo, will feature up to 33 flights per week, with added services on Saturdays and Sundays.
In addition to its Lapland services, Finnair will also expand its offerings to Kuusamo, another favored winter location in Eastern Finland, which will receive additional flights on Saturdays and Sundays.
