Greater Miami Recognized as an Accessible Destination in Collaboration with Wheel the World

The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) has partnered with Wheel the World to designate Greater Miami and Miami Beach as a Certified Accessible Destination, enhancing inclusive travel.

In celebration of National Accessibility Day, the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) has partnered with Wheel the World, officially designating Greater Miami and Miami Beach as a Certified Accessible Destination. This collaboration enhances the area’s reputation as a leader in inclusive travel, ensuring that all visitors, regardless of their abilities, have access to welcoming and barrier-free experiences.

“Greater Miami and Miami Beach have long been committed to ensuring a sense of welcome and accessibility for all travelers.” – David Whitaker, President & CEO of GMCVB.

Wheel the World specializes in accessible travel, offering verified information on accommodations, activities, and transportation tailored to the needs of travelers with disabilities. Currently, Miami ranks as one of Wheel the World’s most popular destinations, with growing demand for accessible options.

As of today, Wheel the World has mapped 30 properties in Greater Miami and Miami Beach and continues to expand its reach. Many hotels are undergoing inspections as part of the Verified Destination programme to confirm accessibility features.

Moreover, as part of this partnership, the GMCVB is producing new accessibility-focused videos to assist travelers in planning their visits with confidence and ease.

Key Highlights of the Partnership:

  • Verified Hotel Listings: 30 properties have been mapped, with plans for swift expansion.
  • Peace of Mind Guarantee: If travelers do not receive their booked accessible room, they will be refunded, reinforcing trust in their stay.
  • Enhanced Visitor Planning Tools: Listings with detailed filters allowing exploration of room layouts, step-free access, and adaptive equipment.
  • Cultural Representation: Local attractions will be featured on Wheel the World’s Miami page, highlighting the rich culture of Miami.
  • Marketing Strategy: A comprehensive campaign will accompany the unveiling of new video content and messaging during GMCVB’s State of the Industry event later this month.

“Our goal has always been to empower people with disabilities to explore the world without limits,” said Álvaro Silberstein, Co-founder & CEO of Wheel the World.

This initiative correlates with GMCVB’s broader strategy for sustainability and inclusion, complementing certifications aimed at supporting diverse travelers.
