Vietnam is the Most Affordable Southeast Asia Destination for Backpackers

Travel booking company Omio has identified Vietnam as the budget-friendliest destination for backpackers traveling through Southeast Asia.

Vietnam stands out with low costs across multiple travel aspects:

• One-way public transport tickets can be as low as 23p.
• Average accommodation prices start at about £1.
• Cheapest beer prices at 72p and soft drinks at 36p.

In a comparative analysis of countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand, Omio evaluated factors like accommodation costs, visa fees, food prices, and travel expenses. Vietnam received the highest score of 40 out of 45 for affordability across these categories.

Indonesia ranked second, noted for its inexpensive meal options averaging around £1.37 at casual restaurants and competitive leisure activity prices. Thailand claimed the third position, followed by Malaysia and Singapore, where accommodation tends to be significantly pricier, with average hotel rates starting from £51.

Despite being pricier, Singapore and Malaysia offer the longest visa durations, allowing stays of up to three months compared to other analyzed countries.

Overall, Vietnam remains an unbeatable choice for budget-conscious travelers exploring Southeast Asia.
