Spirit Airlines Introduces Two Free Checked Bags for Credit Card Holders

Spirit Airlines enhances its loyalty program with new benefits, including free checked luggage for credit card holders.

Spirit Airlines is enhancing its Free Spirit loyalty program by introducing several advantageous changes for its followers, particularly targeted at credit card holders. Starting later in 2025, members holding the Free Spirit Travel More Mastercard will benefit from two free checked bags, along with complimentary upgrades during boarding.

In a move that reflects Spirit’s commitment to improving customer satisfaction post-bankruptcy, the airline has detailed additional savings opportunities aimed at both elite members and credit card users.

Free Checked Bags as a Benefit for Credit Card Holders

Among the most notable enhancements, the addition of complimentary checked luggage for credit card holders will take effect later in 2025, with full information to be revealed at a later date. This strategic move follows Southwest Airlines’ decision to reduce its checked bag services for passengers.

Moreover, Free Spirit members will have the flexibility to redeem points across all classes of travel, including the newly introduced “Go Big” and “Go Comfy” options, alongside forthcoming personalized perks that will cater to diverse traveler needs.

Those aiming for Free Spirit Silver or Gold status will encounter no new obstacles for requalification, ensuring that current benefits remain protected without additional qualification changes for 2025.

The airline plans to debut an upgraded seating arrangement in the “Go Comfy” area of its planes, featuring 32 inches of pitch in the first seven rows, accommodating a total of 40 seats. The phased-out middle seat restriction in the “Go Comfy” service will also begin in June 2025, aiming for completion by July. Additionally, ticket booking for these upgraded seats will launch on May 15, 2025, with travel commencing on July 9, 2025.
