ATIA Showcases Contribution of Travel Professionals on Global Travel Advisor Day
The Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA) plans to highlight the vital role of accredited travel businesses and their outstanding employees in conjunction with Global Travel Advisor Day.
As Global Travel Advisor Day approaches on May 7th, the Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA) aims to recognize the significant contributions of accredited travel agencies and their dedicated teams.
Travel advisors work diligently to guarantee safer and more informed travel for millions of Australians, with ATIA advocating for their importance as credible professionals in this critical sector.
The chief executive of ATIA, Dean Long, stated: “Global Travel Advisor Day serves as an essential reminder of our members’ crucial role in assisting Australians before, during, and after their travels. ATIA is committed to promoting accredited travel agencies daily to ensure their value is acknowledged by government, industry, and the public. As travel becomes increasingly intricate, we aim to boost the visibility and influence of Australia’s travel professionals.”
Advisors are Central to the Industry
Long emphasizes, “We are currently witnessing a golden age for travel professionals as many Australians, especially those who faced challenges during COVID, now turn to experts for assistance with complex travel arrangements and support during crises.”
The backbone of any ATIA-accredited business comprises the team members who facilitate each travel experience, providing trustworthy, expert guidance to countless Australians.
Whether it involves organizing intricate international trips, responding to travel interruptions, managing documentation, or delivering emergency support abroad, travel consultants have proven indispensable. The evolving landscape of the industry underscores the necessity of accredited travel experts in providing savvy, safer, and more customized travel experiences.
This need is evident from the substantial booking figures: In 2024, ATIA members facilitated $13.5 billion in retail travel, $11.8 billion in corporate travel, and $5.6 billion in land operations. Over 70% of international air sales and more than 90% of corporate travel reservations are conducted through agents, with Australians increasingly turning to these reliable professionals for reassurance and expert guidance.
ATIA continues to spearhead initiatives aimed at enhancing the visibility, value, and sustainability of accredited travel advisors among government entities, industry players, and the traveling public. By engaging in consistent advocacy, fostering workforce development, and implementing public awareness campaigns, the Association ensures policies, funding, and regulatory frameworks support its members’ prosperity. The ATIA boasts that 92% of its members are small businesses, with women comprising 72% of the workforce, reflecting one of Australia’s most diverse and innovative sectors.
