Bacolod Hotel Alliance Aims to Enhance City's MICE Appeal
The Bacolod Hotel Alliance is formed to establish the city as a premier destination for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE).
Bacolod’s Hotel Alliance for MICE Excellence
Hotels and resorts in Bacolod, a highly developed city in the Central Philippines, have united to elevate its standing as a prime destination for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE).
A Milestone for Tourism
According to Maria Teresa Manalili, the Chief Tourism Operations Officer, this Bacolod Hotel Alliance marks a significant step toward a more cohesive and spirited tourism environment.
“By enhancing partnerships among hospitality entities and encouraging collaboration across the board, we are establishing a robust MICE alliance that positions Bacolod as a choice destination for both business and leisure,” she stated.
Strengthening the Industry
Manalili highlighted that unifying local hotels will bolster the tourism sector and improve readiness for upcoming tourism projects focused on the MICE category.
New Leadership in the Alliance
The newly elected leaders include:
- Sherwin Lucas (Park Inn by Radisson) - President
- John Victor Go (Roy’s Hotel and Convention Center) - Vice President
- Catherine Gonzalez (Acacia Hotel) - Secretary
- Kim Joseph Guimba (Seda Capitol Central) - Treasurer
- Allen Jimenez (Citadines Bacolod), Regina Guanco (Sugarland Hotel), and Teena Locsin-Javellana (L’Fisher Hotel) as board members.
A Growing Destination
Data from the Bacolod City Tourism Office reveals that there are at least 26 hotels and 8 resorts in the city, along with 48 Mabuhay accommodations, providing a total of 3,859 rooms.
These accommodations encompass everything from tourist inns and motels to guest houses and hostels. The tourism chief mentioned plans to convene the Mabuhay group soon to cultivate community ties and potentially form an additional alliance for these establishments.
Manalili noted that overnight tourist figures have significantly rebounded in the last three years, rising from pandemic lows, with 833,345 travelers recorded in 2024, up from 780,916 in 2023. This steady growth underscores Bacolod’s emerging role as a leading player in the MICE sector.
