On April 17, 2025, World Expeditions announced the introduction of its new brand, On Water Expeditions, which focuses on small-vessel adventure cruising.
Adventure Seeker’s Paradise
On Water Expeditions is designed for travelers who love active adventures and explore remarkable destinations that are often off the beaten path. Each trip combines intimate journeys on small ships with rare access to beautiful, remote locations.
This new brand features a website that acts as a central hub for over 140 carefully curated small-ship expeditions, covering locations from the icy Antarctic continent to the tropical paradises of the Maldives and Galapagos.
Evolving Travel Experiences
The launch reflects World Expeditions’ history of pioneering adventure travel, as CEO Sue Badyari states:
“World Expeditions has long been a pioneer in adventure travel… On Water Expeditions is designed for travelers who crave authentic, immersive experiences in some of the most spectacular and far-flung corners of the globe.”
The new brand aims to change how travelers interact with maritime adventures by offering smaller vessels with expert-led itineraries that emphasize active exploration.
Leadership in New Ventures
Rachel Imber, a long-time veteran of World Expeditions with over 25 years of experience, will manage the brand. Imber expresses her excitement in redefining the travel experience:
“What excites me most about this role is the opportunity to redefine small boat travel… creating an unparalleled connection with nature and local cultures.”
Unique Itineraries
On Water Expeditions differentiates itself from traditional cruise lines by offering genuine small-group experiences, with a maximum of 200 passengers, fostering deep cultural engagements.
The focus includes activities such as kayaking, snorkeling, diving, hiking, and even camping, promising guests an active adventure.
Commitment to Sustainability
In line with World Expeditions’ dedication to responsible travel, On Water Expeditions prioritizes environmental consciousness and community-focused tourism. By keeping group sizes small, they aim to reduce ecological footprints and promote sustainable practices.
