A New Chapter Begins: MSC World America Docks in PortMiami

A thrilling new chapter for North American cruising begins as MSC Cruises brings its latest masterpiece, MSC World America, to the shores of PortMiami. As the sun rose on April 7, 2025, the massive world-class vessel—the first of its kind to sail from the U.S.—made a graceful debut, turning heads and capturing imaginations as it docked at the newly minted MSC Cruises terminal, the world’s largest cruise terminal.

A Spectacle to Welcome the New Queen of the Seas

Designed to accommodate up to 36,000 guests daily, the cutting-edge terminal spans an impressive 492,600 square feet, blending seamless biometric check-in processes with stunning architectural design. As MSC World America took her place at this state-of-the-art facility, it signalled the beginning of a new era for MSC Cruises’ growing fleet in the U.S.

Before welcoming her first guests, the 215,800-gross ton ship is set to host a spectacular naming ceremony on April 9, 2025. The event will mix maritime tradition with modern flair, featuring blessings, live music, and speeches from notable guests. Actress Drew Barrymore, serving as the ship’s godmother, will lead the ceremony, which includes the iconic champagne bottle breaking—a symbolic toast to the vessel’s success. Following the celebration, attendees will embark on a special 2-night cruise to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, MSC Cruises’ stunning private island in the Bahamas.

The Maiden Voyage: Where to Next?

The official maiden voyage of MSC World America sets sail on April 12, 2025. This 7-night Eastern Caribbean adventure will take guests to breathtaking destinations, including:

  • Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic – April 14
  • San Juan, Puerto Rico – April 15
  • Ocean Cay, Bahamas – April 18

Following her initial voyage, the ship will also offer Western Caribbean itineraries, with stops at vibrant locales like Costa Maya, Roatan, and Cozumel, alongside MSC’s own Ocean Cay. Guests can even book back-to-back cruises, enjoying a 14-night Caribbean odyssey aboard one of the world’s largest cruise ships.
