
Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport Welcomes Nearly 1.9 Million Passengers in March
The Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport reports significant passenger growth and operational increase for March 2025.
In March 2025, Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport saw an impressive total of 1,897,983 passengers and 13,489 flights, marking an increase of 8.3% in traveler numbers and 11.3% in operations compared to the same month last year. Notably, Semana Santa occurred in March 2024, while it took place in April this year.
Of the total passengers, 1,893,605 traveled on commercial flights, with 323,104 on domestic routes (a slight decrease of 3.3%), while 1,570,501 chose international connections, which increased by 11.1%. The UK market stood out with 428,291 passengers, followed by Germany (140,450), the Netherlands (120,426), and Italy (108,543).
In terms of operations, the airport managed 13,489 aircraft movements in March, of which 13,268 were commercial: 2,987 domestic (+2%) and 10,281 international (+14.1%).
Traffic in the First Quarter
During the first quarter of 2025, Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport handled 4,790,078 passengers, a 6% increase compared to the same period in 2024. From this total, 4,777,590 traveled on commercial flights, with 867,295 originating or destined for Spain (-1.3%) and 3,910,295 (+7.8%) going abroad. Overall, there were 34,843 landings and takeoffs, which is 7% more than the first quarter of last year.
National Airport Statistics
Across Spain, airports under the Aena group, which includes 46 airports and two helipads in the country, concluded March with 28,775,355 passengers, an increase of 4.3% compared to the same month in 2024. They also recorded 249,502 aircraft movements (+3.9%) and transported 126,889 tons of cargo, reflecting a 7.6% boost over the previous year.
