Airbus Establishes Intent to Upgrade Thai Airways' A350 Fleet

Airbus signs a Letter of Intent with Thai Airways to retrofit its A350 aircraft, enhancing passenger comfort and operational efficiency.

Airbus and Thai Airways International recently formalized a Letter of Intent (LoI) aimed at retrofitting the A350 aircraft operated by Thai Airways.

This initiative is designed to enhance both passenger comfort and operational efficiency through several state-of-the-art cabin upgrades.

Balinda Zhang, Airbus’ head of commercial services in the Asia Pacific, expressed,

“Airbus is pleased to support THAI in this significant investment in their fleet, ensuring that their A350 aircraft continue to offer passengers an exceptional flying experience. This retrofit aligns with our shared vision of delivering enhanced comfort and efficiency for airlines and their customers.”

Furthermore, this agreement fortifies Airbus’ long-standing relationship with Thai Airways, reiterating its dedication to assisting the airline in modernizing its fleet. The A350 continues to play a pivotal role in THAI’s operations, and the upgrade will elevate its attractiveness to both premium and economy passengers.

Retrofit Plans

The retrofit program will be managed by Airbus, ensuring that Thai Airways’ A350-900 aircraft receive the latest in cabin innovations, aimed at delivering a premium flying experience for long-haul routes.

These enhancements will feature upgraded ‘Royal Silk’ Business Class seats, new Premium Economy Class seats, Economy Class seats, and an advanced in-flight entertainment system, promising a seamless travel experience across THAI’s network.

The cabin modernization is anticipated to kick off by 2028, with retrofitted aircraft being reintroduced into service incrementally to minimize disruptions to the airline’s operational schedule.
