Philippines Receives Seven Nominations for World Travel Awards 2025

The Philippines has once again showcased its tourism prowess by garnering nominations in seven prestigious categories for the World Travel Awards 2025.

On April 9, the Department of Tourism (DOT) announced these nominations aimed at encouraging public participation in online voting. The DOT is optimistic that strong public support will help the nation maintain its esteemed position as a top travel destination in Asia.

Defense of Titles

The Philippines has held the title of Asia’s Leading Dive Destination since 2019. Additionally, Boracay was recognized as Asia’s Leading Luxury Island Destination the same year. The country will defend its titles in several categories, including Asia’s Leading Beach Destination, Asia’s Leading Dive Destination, and Asia’s Leading Island Destination.

Moreover, prominent tourist spots such as Boracay, Intramuros, and Cebu are also in contention for various awards.

In the words of Christina Frasco, “These nominations reflect our diligent efforts to promote the Philippines globally, with a focus on sustainability and inclusivity.”

Voting and Impact

Voting commenced on April 1 and will extend until August 31. The outcomes will be determined partly by travel experts and the general public, underlining the importance of online engagement in elevating tourism in the Philippines.
