Taiwanese carrier EVA Air has solidified an order with Airbus for six long-range A350-1000s along with three A321neo aircraft. This decision finalizes a commitment the airline had made public only a month prior.
The newly confirmed orders will increase EVA Air’s backlog to 24 A350-1000s and 18 A321neo aircraft.
EVA Air President Clay Sun commented, “The new additions to our fleet reaffirm our commitment to sustainable aviation and delivering an exceptional travel experience. Both the A350-1000 and A321neo establish a high benchmark in their categories, providing outstanding efficiency and comfort for passengers. As we expand our fleet and network, we are excited to utilize the extended range and efficiency of these aircraft for a stronger market position.”
Airbus’ executive vice-president for commercial aircraft sales, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, noted, “EVA Air’s new orders highlight the lasting appeal of the A350-1000 as the standard for intercontinental flights and the A321neo as a leader in regional efficiency. We greatly appreciate EVA Air’s trust in these latest-generation aircraft and are prepared to facilitate their seamless integration into the airline’s fleet for future success.”
Modern Aircraft for an Evolving Airline
The A350 is recognized as the world’s most advanced and efficient widebody aircraft, having set new benchmarks for intercontinental travel, offering the longest range of any commercial airliner currently in production.
Equipped with the latest Rolls-Royce engines, this aircraft can operate up to 18,000 kilometers non-stop, achieving a 25% reduction in fuel consumption and a similar decrease in carbon emissions compared to older models.
Like all Airbus models, the A350 can run on up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) already, with plans to achieve 100% SAF capability by 2030.
The A320neo family, including the A321neo, incorporates cutting-edge technology such as new engines and Sharklets, delivering 20% fuel savings. Since its 2016 launch, over 6,800 A321neo aircraft have been ordered by more than 90 clients, capturing over 80% of the market share.
